  • What is chiropractic care?

Chiropractic care is a science, philosophy, and art focused on the intricate relationship between the spine and nervous system. Doctors of Chiropractic know that misalignments (subluxations) in the spine can interfere with the vital communication pathway between the brain and the body.  This interference can lead to decreased function, loss of energy, pain, and ill-health. Chiropractors use a gentle adjustment to realign the spine, restore normal nervous system function, and allow the body to heal, naturally.

    Is chiropractic safe?

Extremely. Chiropractic is no more dangerous than walking down the street or getting your hair washed at the salon. Chiropractic adjustments are specifically given based on an individual’s subluxations; there’s no one-size-fits-all application. If chiropractic were dangerous, our malpractice insurance would be expensive. The best example of safety is the malpractice premiums physicians pay annually.  An OB/GYN in Ohio could pay over $200,000/year compared to the $2,000/year a chiropractor can pay.  Clearly malpractice companies know something…that chiropractic is extremely safe!

    When will I feel better?

That depends. All healing is coordinated by your nervous system, which is why we focus on reducing the interference caused by subluxations. The less interference, the faster you heal. Our evaluation will determine the severity of interference caused by subluxations, and we’ll do our best to predict when your health will be restored.

What happens on a first visit?

On the first visit you’ll be greeted by one our team members.  They will walk you through the process of filling out the initial paperwork and give you a tour of our practice so you can feel at home.  Dr. Bonner will meet you one-on-one for a consultation to review your health information and explain what we do. A complete chiropractic evaluation will be performed including range of motion, posture assessment, computerized nervous system scan, and x-rays if necessary.

Dr. Bonner will review all of the information she gained from your first visit, and you’ll return for a complimentary Doctor’s Report.  Then you get answers to:  What’s wrong?  Can you help?  How long does it take?  How much does it cost?  If you’re ready we can start care that day!

    Do you take my insurance?

When you arrive for your first visit, our team will make a copy of your insurance card and verify your out-of-network benefits. Our staff will review all finances prior to providing any care. All fees are due at the time of service and we will provide the necessary paperwork to receive reimbursement from your insurance carrier.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Usually not. Your health is our main priority. We always thoroughly evaluate the results of your first visit before initiating care. On your first visit we perform a consultation, examination, necessary x-rays, and an extensive assessment of your nervous system. We take the time necessary to properly evaluate the results and make appropriate recommendations. Your follow-up visit will include a personalized report of findings and answers to any questions you may have.

    Does an adjustment hurt?

Just the opposite! Dr. Bonner is trained in activator method techniques. This allows her to use a technique that is most effective for your body. If you are nervous about being adjusted please let us know and we will help you through the process safely and comfortably. Chiropractic releases tension in the nervous system that develops over time from the physical, chemical, and emotional stress we experience. Most of the time our practice members comment on how wonderful they feel – more energy, less pressure, decreased pain, increased life!

The More You Know…

01. What is the Activator Method?

Activator Method is much more than just an instrument. It is a gentle low-force technique that incorporates the latest advances in orthopedic, neurological and chiropractic examinations to create a unique system of administering chiropractic adjustments. A certified Activator chiropractor uses specific protocols to detect spinal joint dysfunction (vertebral subluxations) by analyzing leg length inequality and assessing body mechanics and testing neurological reflexes. Once the dysfunction/subluxation has been found, the Activator instrument is used to quickly and gently deliver a specific adjustment to correct it and begin restoring spinal balance and allow the body to heal itself.

02. Does Dr. Bonner use the Activator Method?

Absolutely. Dr. Terri Bonner uses a gentle, low force, chiropractic technique called the Activator Method. The activator method is a chiropractic technique (AMCT) that involves the patient lying face down and comparing the patients leg lengths. Often, one leg will seem shorter than the other. Dr. Terri then carries out a series of muscle tests.

03. How Does Chiropractic Care Help You Become Healthier?

Your health is based on four very important principles and everything we do in this office is based on these four principles:

  • Your body is a self-healing organism

  • Your nervous system is the “computer” that runs this organism

  • If something interferes with the function of your nervous system you are not able to control your body

A chiropractor job is to simply correct/remove the interference so you body can restore law and order in your nervous system.
